Artificial intelligence projects in high-compliance industries, like healthcare and life science, often require processing Protected Health Information (PHI). Build React UI Visually with Plasmic - Host Yang Zhang
Tuesday, July 28th, 2020: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
online

Design tools are amazing tools for thought, but for a host of reasons are limited to creating drawings rather than production assets. Engineers must instead re-create surfaces from scratch, by hand, using code. This inevitably leads to discrepancies and back-and-forth with the design team, and ultimately two sources of truth that are never truly in sync.

Plasmic is a tool to build UIs visually, currently in heavy development. It loosely resembles a design tool and aims to give the same sense of speedy iteration, but is for building maintainable, production-ready presentational components. The idea is to give developers a better and faster development experience, eliminate an entire class of visual bugs/QA/tooling, and ultimately maintain a single source of truth with design.

Integrated Cloud Architectures for Modern Data and Analytics
Thursday, July 23rd, 2020: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
online

Achieve maximum business impact with a straightforward architecture for cloud analytics One of the consequences of the growing diversity of data and its analytics use cases is that data architectures are trending toward multiplatform environments that distribute data across many on-premises databases and cloud data platforms. Similarly, some organizations are adopting one or more tools for every form of analytics.

However, most organizations need something simpler, more cost-effective, and efficient, while maintaining functionality and scale. Luckily for them, it's possible to assemble a straightforward architecture for modern analytics by combining a powerful cloud data platform, a unified analytics offering, and an automated data integration solution. When these three architectural layers tightly interoperate, the result is an end-to-end user experience that leads from raw data sources to valuable business insights with broad collaboration.

Learn about Simple Cloud Architectures for Modern Data and Analytics by registering to attend a free TDWI Virtual Solution Spotlight. Attendees will hear from Philip Russom, Ph.D., senior director of research for data management at TDWI, plus expert speakers from Snowflake and Qlik.

Data architectures are being driven into greater complexity by a number of trends:

  • The range of business use cases is exploding as managers demand real-time data for operational decisions and massive volumes of detailed source data in support of multiple forms of advanced analytics.

  • Many new and compelling data platforms and data management tools have emerged in recent years (from vendor and open-source communities), and most organizations are eager to modernize their data-driven IT solutions to take advantage of these.

A Blueprint for Behavioral Design
Tuesday, July 21st, 2020: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
online

We are excited to welcome Dr. Stephen Wendel, author of Designing for Behavior Change as our July presenter!

Organizations around the world are applying behavioral science to nudge their users to act differently. They help people overcome behavioral obstacles in diverse areas-from exercise and dieting to learning new job skills. While these efforts very widely in focus, the approach each group takes is remarkably similar. After years of experimentation and learning in the field, practitioners have effectively developed a blueprint for behavioral design.

South Florida Chapter Meeting July 2020 - Talk + Discussion + Networking

Abstract: Software systems are now an integral part of our life. Databases maintained by a variety of institutions & organizations define who we are, what we own, what is our expertise, our jobs, as well as holding our flight reservations, tickets for concerts, appointments, etc. In other words, they hold a panorama of our past, present, and future life. Most parts of this panorama persist through our whole life, and even beyond. Therefore, we need to expect that this data is accurate, protected properly, and designed appropriately. The entities that control all this data have an enormous influence in our lives and must be trustworthy. However, due to greed or negligence, sometimes software systems turn against us.
