As security professionals we should be aware of the rising importance of privacy and privacy regulations. Most states have privacy regulations. The EU's GDPR upped the ante adding the ideas of 'right to be forgotten' and 'privacy by design'. Now the new CCPR of California may lead to further new privacy laws in the US.

In answer to this, NIST started to worked on a new Privacy Framework in a similar style to their Cybersecurity Framework. It was finally released earlier this year. But how does it compare with the CSF and how would it be used? Michael Brown, a local security professional familiar with the NIST CSF and some experience with privacy regulations will present an introduction on the Privacy Framework as well as resources to help you become more knowledgeable.
